Funky Time Game Show: DigiWheel, Letter Bets and Disco Bonus Rounds

Funky Time is a live game show from Evolution with a 1970s disco theme, a live presenter and a large wheel built from LED panels. Trade press covered its launch in 2023, quoting Evolution’s description of it as the company’s biggest new game show since its earlier wheel-based hit, and reporting that around 100 people worked on the production.

The show pairs straightforward instant-win segments with four bonus games, two of which take place on an animated dance floor. Random multipliers generated by the wheel itself can attach to any type of segment, which links the base game and the bonus rounds into one payout system.

The Funky Time DigiWheel

The wheel is a DigiWheel, a design in which each segment is a digital LED panel rather than a printed surface. This allows labels and multipliers to stay upright and change while the wheel is spinning. Reviews also note that the wheel alternates direction, turning clockwise on one spin and counter-clockwise on the next.

The Funky Time wheel has 64 segments in total. Number 1 occupies 28 of them, letter segments occupy 24 and bonus segments occupy the remaining 12. Sources consistently report this layout, although at least one review misstates the total in a summary table.

Letter Segments

The 24 letter segments spell three words, PLAY, FUNK and TIME, with each word appearing twice around the wheel. That gives 12 distinct letters, P, L, A, Y, F, U, N, K, T, I, M and E, each present on two segments.

In Funky Time, a winning bet on a single letter pays 25 to 1 at base. Number 1 pays 1 to 1. Both values can be increased by a wheel multiplier on the round in question.

Bonus Segments

The 12 bonus segments are split unevenly. Bar holds 6 segments, Disco holds 3, Stayin’ Alive holds 2 and VIP Disco holds a single segment, making it the rarest outcome on the wheel.

As in other Evolution shows, a bonus pays only stakes placed on that specific bonus before the spin. Every viewer sees the round play out, but payouts go to those with a bet on the triggered bonus.

Random Multipliers in Funky Time

Before each spin, the DigiWheel assigns random multipliers to some of its segments. Reported values for these base multipliers range from 2x to 50x, and they can land on Number 1, letter or bonus segments alike.

On instant-win segments the multiplier boosts the standard payout directly. On a bonus segment it is carried into the bonus round, where it scales the multipliers on offer, either at the end or at the start of the round depending on the bonus.

Betting Positions

The Funky Time betting panel holds 17 individual positions: Number 1, the twelve letters and the four bonus games. Two grouped options are also offered, one placing a bet on all 12 letters at once and another covering all four bonuses in a single action.

Reviews put the betting window at about 20 seconds. An auto-play function repeating a selection for up to 100 rounds, with configurable win and loss stops, is listed in several descriptions of the interface.

Bonus Games of Funky Time

The four bonuses differ sharply in presentation and in the spread of possible results. Bar is the most frequent and the narrowest, Stayin’ Alive uses a ball draw, and Disco and VIP Disco share a dance-floor mechanic on different scales.

The summaries below reflect mechanics described consistently across reviews and the developer page. Where sources diverge, the rules screen inside the game holds the authoritative version.

Bar

Bar features a robot bartender and three glasses, coloured blue, yellow and purple. Each participant chooses one glass, and each glass receives a random multiplier, reported as ranging from 2x to 20x.

A single-reel slot then spins and adds an extra multiplier to one of the glasses. The payout equals the final value of the glass chosen, and any multiplier carried from the main wheel is applied on top.

Stayin’ Alive

Stayin’ Alive uses a drawing machine containing 90 balls and three multiplier ladders of 20 levels each. Every participant picks a ladder colour and starts at the 5x level with four lives. Sources disagree on the colours, with some naming green, purple and orange and others listing pink instead of purple.

Coloured balls advance the matching ladder by one or two steps, while black STOP balls remove one life from every ladder. The round ends when four STOP balls have been drawn, and the payout is the level reached at that point. Published figures for the ladder’s top step also differ, and some reviews give 1,000x while others cite 10,000x.

Disco

Disco takes place on a virtual floor of 37 squares, each carrying a multiplier. The character Mr Funky starts in the centre, and an eight-segment direction wheel showing left, right, up and down moves him one square per spin.

Regular squares add their values to a running total, reported as ranging from 1x to 100x, while special floor multipliers double five random squares. Any multiplier carried from the main wheel is applied to the regular squares before the dancing begins, which can lift the whole floor at once. The round ends when a move takes Mr Funky off the edge of the floor.

VIP Disco

VIP Disco follows the same rules on a larger floor of 63 squares. Regular square values are reported as reaching 500x, a much wider range than the standard Disco.

With only one segment on the wheel, VIP Disco is the least frequent outcome, and the 10,000x maximum multiplier quoted for the show is associated with this round in several reviews.

RTP Figures

The highest theoretical return in Funky Time is 95.99%, attached to the Number 1 bet and quoted as the overall maximum. Letter bets are listed at 95.49%, Stayin’ Alive at 95.49%, Disco at 95.51% and VIP Disco at 95.38%.

Bar is listed at 95.98% in some sources and at 95.90% in others. All of these are long-run theoretical values, and the current figure for each position appears in the game’s information panel.

Maximum Win

Reviews associate a 10,000x maximum multiplier in Funky Time with the top bonus outcomes, a figure that requires both a rare bonus trigger and favourable results within the round. Alongside that, a maximum payout per round applies, with €500,000 quoted by some sources, although this cap is set per operator and currency.

Because figures and caps can change between versions, the payout limits shown inside the game window take precedence over any external summary.

Summary of the Format

Funky Time joins a 64-segment DigiWheel, letter bets paying 25 to 1, base multipliers up to 50x and four bonus games into a single continuous broadcast. The bonuses range from the quick three-glass Bar round to the large VIP Disco floor with values reaching 500x.

Only users who have reached 18 and live where this form of gaming is lawful may join a table, and the account area includes limit controls and a self-exclusion option. In the MCW Casino game-show lineup, Funky Time represents Evolution’s disco-themed counterpart to its classic money-wheel formats.
